In August, the ACT publisher released a report on the
scores of the 2004 graduating class. On its Web site, ACT
says this about its ACT test: “America's most widely
accepted college entrance exam.”
Amongst many groups of statistics that ACT provided, one
showed that the average composite score for all students
was 20.9; for those who were homeschooled, 22.6; and for
those who had “earned a GED,” 18.9.
These relatively high academic scores of the home
educated are consistent with the findings of many
researchers over the past two decades. This is one reason
that an increasing number of colleges and universities are
becoming interested in the home educated.
